Report ranks top cloud-based EHR vendors
Due to cost benefits and increasing confidence in cloud computing, more and more healthcare providers are turning to Software as a Service (SaaS) EHR systems.
The SaaS model is used when vendors host the software on their own servers. Then, customers pay a subscription fee to use the software, rather than purchase it and install it on their own networks.
That’s beneficial especially for smaller providers that want to avoid big upfront costs and don’t have the IT staff required to install and maintain complex systems.
The model is catching on among providers, according to a recent report from KLAS Research — and as it has become more popular, providers have many good options in this area.
KLAS spoke to 300 providers currently using SaaS EHR systems and identified the four most important factors to consider when choosing a system: EHR response time, customer support, product quality and value for the money.
Based on those factors, KLAS identified the top five cloud-based EHR systems:
- CureMD EMR
- Practice Fusion
- athenaHealth athenaClinicals
- MIE WebChart EMR
- MedPlus/Quest Diagnostics Care360 EHR
