EHR user ratings reveal top choices in different categories
What’s the best EHR system out there? Here’s what one organization ranks as the top software in several categories.
AmericanEHR Partners’ website maintains an online ranking of EHR systems, based on user surveys.
Eligible products (those that are certified for federal incentives and receive at least 10 survey responses) are graded on a scale of one to five in 12 categories: satisfaction, overall usability, prescribing, workflow management, order management, population management, implementation experience, training, support experience, interfaces with other programs, billing, and purchase experience.
AmericanEHR Partners doesn’t list an overall ranking based on all categories — just the top choice for each. Praxis EMR receives the most top rankings, leading eight categories — though it should be noted that’s based on only 19 responses. Other pieces of software have input from hundreds of users.
The winners in the other categories: Practice Fusion (implementation experience), MEDENT (billing), and Amazing Charts (support experience and purchase experience).
Ratings can also be filtered by the size of the practice completing the survey. For practices with more than 25 doctors, EpicCare Ambulatory EMR was a top choice, winning eight categories. Epic was also the top choice for health IT systems in another recent ranking.
So far, the rankings are based on data from 4,000 clinicians, surveyed on AmericanEHR Partners’ website or through affiliated medical societies.
