New certification for health IT professionals announced
Organizations often look for certifications when making hiring decisions for IT jobs. Now, a new certification is aiming to help providers find employees specifically skilled in health IT.
The CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician specialty certification is now being offered by CompTIA, an IT industry trade association that provides various certifications for IT professionals.
The certification is vendor- and technology-neutral and will help organizations identify candidates for implementation support specialist and technical and software support staff positions, CompTIA announced in a press release.
The certification is designed to validate the knowledge and skills required to implement and support healthcare IT systems, including electronic health record (EHR) systems. The exam to earn the certification covers areas such as:
- regulatory requirements
- organizational behavior
- IT operations
- Medical business operations, and
